He joined the industry in 1991 as a power station engineer, then moved into the commercial management of power station operations. In 2000 he led the Power Trading team of Innogy (formerly National Power) before moving to the US for two years to work in wholesale origination. He returned to the UK and in 2004 joined the Retail business of npower as Head of Portfolio Management. He was Director of Retail Energy Management for npower until March 2017 with responsibility for managing commercial risks across the entire business, working with the wider RWE/Innogy group across the EU and was a member of the npower Executive Committee. Since leaving npower Jon has worked as a freelance consultant in the energy industry and over the last three years has supported a number of energy companies in developing their trading capability and in general commercial management of their businesses. Clients have included generators, renewables developers, trading companies and suppliers in the UK and overseas. Jon is a specialist in energy risk management with extensive knowledge of product design, pricing, hedging, forecasting and settlements, commercially astute in deal-making and structuring large transactions. He was Director of Retail Energy Management for npower until March 2017 with responsibility for managing commercial risks across the entire business, working with the wider RWE/Innogy group across the EU and was a member of the npower Executive Committee. Since leaving npower Jon has worked as a freelance consultant in the energy industry and over the last three years has supported a number of energy companies in developing their trading capability and in general commercial management of their businesses. Clients have included generators, renewables developers, trading companies and suppliers in the UK and overseas. Jon is a specialist in energy risk management with extensive knowledge of product design, pricing, hedging, forecasting and settlements, commercially astute in deal-making and structuring large transactions. He also has proven leadership skills in delivering strong commercial performance and managing large teams through complex change.</image:caption>
